Approaching Spring

It may seem like we are still in the heart of winter, but as we go into March we are feeling the change coming in the season. On the February 10th we had our first calf of the year, marking the start of new life that the spring will bring. The calf was born to one of our heifers, the birth was fast and she is a excellent mother.

As we are starting to think about the spring and the new opportunities it brings. For Largo Farm, this means planning for the 2023 growing season and recruiting members for our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. We are committed to providing the best vegetables possible and giving people access to local food they can trust.

If you’re in the Battelfords or Sasktoon, now is the perfect time to consider signing up for Largo Farm’s CSA program. Our pricing for a full order is $1470 ($1400 early discount) for the full year, and you will receive up to two bags of vegetables at each pickup. Pickups are once a week for summer and once a month for winter. We also offer a half order for $865 ($772 early discount). You can also sign up for either the winter or summer seasons separately as well.

What makes Largo Farm’s CSA program unique is that we don’t offer delivery. Instead, one member comes out to the farm and does the pickups. This gives you the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with the farm and the people who work there. Largo Farm sees food as more than just fuel to keep you going, but as a central part of social relationships. We have a strong relationship to the land and strive to share that connection with our members.

Joining a CSA program is not only a great way to support local farmers and enjoy fresh, seasonal produce, but it’s also an opportunity to connect with the land and the people who grow your food. By participating in Largo Farm’s CSA program, you can learn more about the growing process, discover new vegetables, and develop a deeper appreciation for the food you eat. If you’re interested in joining Largo Farm’s CSA program or others like it, now is the time to signup for the growing season ahead.
